Sarah Spradlin

Dr. Spradlin is a leading expert in the study of emotional intelligence as it relates to talent acquisition and succession management planning, transformational leadership & organizational resilience. She has multiple publications and is a member of the Society of Industrial Organizational Psychology, Society of Emotional Intelligence, and the Emotional Intelligence Training and Research Institute.

After nearly 10 years as an active duty Marine Corps officer, Dr. Spradlin transitioned to serve as the first female Principal Staff Director at U.S. Marine Corps Forces, Special Operations Command, Marine Raider Training Center. Currently, she serves as the CEO of Vitruvian Advantage, one of Richmond, Virginia’s top full-service workforce development firms. Vitruvian Advantage provides a full range of workforce development services that are grounded in the theory, and more importantly a practical application of emotional intelligence.

 

Dr. Spradlin also serves as Adjunct Faculty for Central Michigan University’s Graduate School of Business where she teaches Workforce Improvement Strategies for Corporate and Non-Profit Organizations, Succession Planning, and Evaluation, Coaching and Mentoring. She served as the Chairman of the Veteran Administration’s Mid-Atlantic Region’s Clay Hunt Committee, a congressional initiative aimed at providing better access to mental health services for our transitioning service members and families through a community oriented peer support network. Dr. Spradlin attended the Neuroscience of Leadership Program at MIT’s Sloan School of Management. She holds a Doctorate of Business Administration (DBA) specializing in Industrial Organizational Psychology from Northcentral University; a MA in Criminal Justice specializing in Narcotics Investigations from American Military University; and a BS in Psychology with a minor in Leadership Studies from Virginia Tech. She resides in Central Virginia with her husband and 4 children.
